In its instructions for invoicing service companies, the tax administration has limited the situations for which the use of the invoicing service is not suitable. According to the instructions, business operators cannot act as light entrepreneurs through the invoicing service in all situations.
Private Traders
According to the instructions of the tax administration, a trader, i.e., a business name entrepreneur, cannot pay themself a salary, and the income obtained from entrepreneurial activities may not be converted into salary income. The remuneration paid for light entrepreneurship through the UKKO.fi invoicing service is classified as salary income, and thus the business name entrepreneur cannot use the invoicing service.
In accordance with the instructions of the tax administration, a person is interpreted as an entrepreneur, even if the operation of the business name has been suspended and even if your company has been removed from the preliminary tax withholding register, the register for VAT and the employer register.
If you have a business name, but you want to continue your activity through the UKKO.fi invoicing service as a light entrepreneur, you must fill in the business name termination notice here.
If you want to continue as a business name entrepreneur, we recommend getting to know the UKKO Private Trader service!
Shareholders of a limited company
Acting as a shareholder in a limited company is not, in principle, an obstacle to acting as a light entrepreneur through the invoicing service.
However, it should be noted that in accordance with the instructions of the tax administration, a shareholder of a limited company can raise a salary for working in the company. The shareholder of the limited company cannot invoice this company through UKKO.fi as a light entrepreneur because the tax administration can interpret that the company transfers its obligations related to the payment of salaries to the invoicing service company by doing so.
If you are a shareholder of a limited company, you cannot use the invoicing service to invoice this company you own. However, you can invoice all other companies and customers through us as a light business owner. Invoicing is also not possible if the work to be invoiced is done on behalf of the limited company you own.
If you are unsure whether you can operate as a light business owner through UKKO.fi or which of UKKO.fi's services best suits your activities, please contact our customer service. We will be happy to help you!
