I work in the construction industry and need a Valtti card. Do I order it myself?

The Occupational Safety and Health Act requires that workers on construction sites must have an ID card with a quality control-passing photo, their name, tax number and employer details. This information can be found, for example, on a Valtti card, which is always ordered through the company in whose name you work. Once you have obtained a business ID, follow the instructions below.

As an entrepreneur with a business ID, you purchase the Valtti card yourself and in your own name. Read below for instructions on how to order a voucher:

• First, register with the Tax Administration's public register of construction tax numbers. You must be registered if you work on a construction site in Finland.
• You will then need to create a business account for yourself on the Vastuu Group website.
• Log in to the service via your company account and select the notify -service. Here you can order a Valtti card for yourself.
• Fill in the required information and save it. Once saved, you will be able to add your photo to the Valtti card. The picture should look like your passport photo. For more information on the photo requirements, please visit the Vastuu Group website.
• Once you have saved your data, it will first go into Unchecked mode. At this point, your membership of the Public Register of Tax Numbers for Construction is checked. This check is done in real time and if for any reason your details remain in the unchecked state, you can click on the Check Tax Numbers button which will run the check again.
• After this check, your status should have changed to Reported. You can then start the actual ordering of the Valtti card.
• In the declare service, you will find the Valtti card order tab. You can order a Valtti card for yourself here. Please note that you can only order the card if your status is "In the Register", i.e. if the information you added earlier was found in the Tax Administration's register.
• Once you have placed your order, you will usually receive your Valtti Card within about five working days.

Valtti card is always company-specific. If you have used a Valtti Card before, for example through the light entrepreneurship service, you must order a new Valtti Card after obtaining your business ID.
