A tax card is a document on which the employee's withholding tax percentage is indicated. The employee receives a tax card from the Tax Administration, and delivers the tax card to the employer or payer. Based on the tax card, the payer withholds withholding tax from the employee's salary and accounts it to the tax authorities.
Withholding tax refers to tax withheld from salary and its amount is based on estimated income during the year. The withholding tax rate is indicated on your tax card.
Ordering a tax card and revised tax card
The Tax Administration sends out a new tax card and tax rate every year, which is based on your previous year's income and it comes into effect every February 1. However, if the annual income limit on the tax card is different from what you think you will earn, make a revised tax card in OmaVero. In this case, your tax rate may change and thus the amount of withholding tax paid from the salary also changes. We always pay taxes according to the tax percentage entered in your data at the time of salary payment.
We receive your tax information automatically
Your income limit and tax rate in the OmaVero service of the tax administration are automatically transferred to our system when you log in and calculate your salary. This does not require any action from you in the UKKO.fi service, and you no longer need to send us your tax card separately. So please check that your correct tax rate is indicated on the front page of your UKKO account.
Sometimes it may not be possible to get tax information. If this happens, the tax card must be submitted electronically through our service. Instructions for that can be found here >> How do I deliver a tax card. If we do not receive your tax card and your customer's payment for the invoice you sent reaches us, UKKO.fi must automatically deliver the withholding tax in the amount of 60 percent.
